MFI projects awarded in Thessaloniki International Film Festival

The Mediterranean Film Institute (MFI) is very glad to announce that PASQUA by writer/director Ivan Marinovic & producer Branislav Srdic, a film project from Slovenia that participated in the MFI Script 2 Film Workshops 2009 program, was awarded the Prize of the European Co-production Forum CROSSROADS, organized within the framework of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival (13-22 November 2009). The Prize is accompanied with a grant of 10.000 € for the development of the project.

PASQUA was selected for CROSSROADS in the context of the co-operation between the Forum & the MFI and was offered a scholarship by the Forum's organizers.

Following this co-operation, CROSSROADS and the MFI were also able to invite another 2009 MFI project, ESTROGEN by writer/director Sophia Zornitsa from Bulgaria, to participate in the Forum as an observer and take benefit of its activities.

Also in the context of the collaboration with CROSSROADS, the MFI is glad to announce that it awards a full scholarship to the CROSSROADS project “DamaScenes”, a French-Syrian Co-production, as well as a 50% scholarship to the project “The Judgment”, a Bulgarian-German co-production, to participate in the program MFI Script 2 Film Workshops 2010.

It must be noted that the CROSSROADS official selection included 2 more MFI projects: “Shadows and Faces” by writer/director Dervis Zaim from Cyprus (MFI Script 2 Film Workshops 2009) & “The story of the Green Line” by writer/director Pannicos Chrysanthou, also from Cyprus (MFI Script 2 Film Workshops 2008). Finally,

2 other MFI projects, coming from Greece, were awarded during the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. “The building manager” by writer/director Pericles Hoursoglou (2008) received the FIPRESCI award for the festival’s Greek section & “Biloba” by writer/director Sophia Papachristou (2003) received the Audience award in the same section.
